SocialMovez

Social media apps like Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat are a huge part of teenagers' lives, making them true experts of their digital world and its dynamics. At SocialMovez, we work hand-in-hand with young people, their parents and other key figures to learn how social media impacts their health and wellbeing. Together, we come up with practical solutions that help them stay safe and healthy, both online and offline. For example, we team up with teens to understand their privacy concerns and create simple, effective privacy tools.

We believe that using cutting-edge AI tools can help us to do this. For example, we use generative AI like GPT to develop social media campaigns about health or sustainability that truly 'speaks the language of youth’ and connects with them in a personal and engaging way. Additionally, we explore the connection between their offline and online worlds, and how teenagers, their parents, and others see this. We use virtual environments to identify the most effective ways to support and improve their physical health in a digitally connected world.

By placing teenagers at the heart of our research, we ensure that the solutions we create are meaningful and truly driven by their perspectives and lived experiences.

The articles listed below are part of the SocialMovez research theme.

Designing with children: Our tips for engaging children in the design of a game

They aimed to gather feedback and creative ideas, discussing the game concept, testing a prototype, and designing new elements. Key steps included setting a clear goal, providing engaging activities, actively listening to feedback, and documenting insights to refine the design. The development team is now integrating these insights, with updates on the game's progress to follow. Stay tuned!
